The conference season is here – there’s never a better time to promote your company!
A conference gives you many chances to put your brand on show, from the moment delegates arrive, register and pick up branded badges and lanyards and conference packs in printed polythene bags.
Delegates will open your branded conference folders and use your promotional pens to write on your business stationery, or read through your pamphlets or brochures.
You can include other giveaways in the pack – why not, for example, a 2010 desk calendar, or post-it notes, or a mousemat, or a promotional keyring? Don’t forget the eye-catching or unusual – if your conference is in the summer, maybe at a seaside centre, why not give delegates some branded flip-flops, a Frisbee, or a beach ball? Or assume that delegates won’t always be at 100% or find the presentations as riveting as you’d hoped – what about stress balls, confectionery, or bottled energy drinks? You could present some high-quality or unusual awards and trophies that will be looked at and become talking points: and all visitors who notice will be exposed to your branding.
There are clearly many choices to be made, once a budget has been set and the brand messages to be carried have been agreed. You then must decide the best way to gain positive attention, ideally with products that will both last and be used.
USB flashdrives are ideal for providing delegates with key information such as a delegate list, presentations, datasheets and so on, and are now available at very competitive prices. In theory, they will virtually last for ever, and in practice they will be used often, both at work and home. There is an extensive choice available, as well as a surprising number of USB gadgets. As long as your marketing material is applied by engraving or embossing, it will remain clear.
The only other giveaways that can match their lasting power and usefulness are traditional favourites like rulers and mugs. There’s a wide range of both products. Plan your designs carefully – they will last and they will be noticed, so your name and message will be found all over workplaces.
Finally, back to where we started. The first thing that all delegates will actually use throughout the event is the conference folder. And, of course, the folder is a natural carrier for your pens, paper, branded DVDs, and so on. The design you select for this, the colour and the marketing messages are key choices to be made. With good choices made, these conference folders will be kept and reused.
If you have the budget, go for leather; certainly avoid materials that are simply not up to the demands of your conference and their likely reuse afterwards. Something that falls to pieces wastes the advertising opportunity and can give a poor quality message about your company.
